WANT TO KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THE
COMMUNITIES WE CALL HOME?
Bernice MacNaughton,
commonly called MacNaughton or Bernie Mac, was founded in
1975 as a trade school, accommodating 1400 students. It
became the MacNaughton Science & Technology Center
(M.S.T.C.) in 1994 but was reestablished as a high school in
1999, consisting only of grade nine students.[3] 2003 saw
the first graduating class of BMHS. At this time, BMHS held
students from grades 9-12 for the first time. By the end of
2003, the building had received a multi-million dollar
renovation. Additions included a newly built gymnasium and
several new classrooms, as well as older classrooms being
substantially refurbished. By 2005, a new roof for the
school's cafeteria had been completed and the auditorium
underwent a face lift in 2006, making the facility more up
to date with new technologies. Its sports teams have often
been referred to as "the Mean Green"or "The Green Machine",
Colonel Gray High School
is a senior high school in Charlottetown, Prince Edward
Island, Canada, colloquially referred to as "The Gray". The
grades taught range from 10 to 12. It is named after Sir
John Hamilton Gray, former Premier of Prince Edward Island.
The school has approximately 1000 students, and 80 staff
members. Colonel gray is a school of under 1000 students.

successful over the years winning 20 of the past 25

(ECI) is a large multi cultural high school located in
Toronto's west end overseen by the Toronto District School
Board. It was founded in the fall of 1928 and is one of
Toronto's oldest schools, having celebrated its 75th
anniversary in 2003. The high school has about 1000
students. The school building has been a shooting location
for a few films and commercials, including Mean Girls in
2003. Notable alumni include Marnie McBean, gold medalist
rower and Ken Dryden, former Montreal Canadiens goaltender
and former President of the Toronto Maple Leafs; current
Member of Parliament. The team won the Coal Bowl in 2005,

Fredericton.
Halifax Grammar School
was established in 1958, the result of a group of parents
offering their sons "an enriched program of studies" and
encouraging them to "work to their fullest capacity in an
atmosphere in which they could take pleasure in learning for
its own sake". The school was a success from its inception
and soon outgrew its original home. In 1996, HGS embarked on
a Strategic Planning exercise to set the course of the
school in the new millennium. The Strategic Plan reaffirmed
the school's commitment to academic excellence; called for
an expansion of the Middle and Senior Schools and a
reduction of class sizes throughout the Prep School. Today
enrolment stands at a record of 540 students with an
unprecedented demand for places at all levels of entrance.
Riverview is a community
of nearly 18,000 located on the southern bank of the
Petitcodiac River. The town has a number of small businesses
but the majority of people are employed across the river in
Moncton. The town is served by a number of elementary
schools, one middle school and one high school. Riverview
High School provides a wide range of sports programs and
activities for its approximately 1200 students. The Varsity
Girls’ basketball team has consistently been among the best
teams in the province for many years appearing in the
provincial championship game last year and looking forward
to another strong season in 2007-08.
St. Mary is from
Hamilton, Ontario (the Steeltown). Although Hamilton and the
surrounding area is growing, our school is declining in
size. A new catholic school opened in our area five years
ago as our school was overpopulated. The school has been
known for its rich basketball tradition. The girls program
as won 10 provincial medals in the last 10 years (7 gold, 2
silver,1 bronze). The boys have 1 gold medal in 1991, but
recently have been back to the provincial championships in 2
of the last 3 years at the AAAA level. As the school's
population declines in size the coaching staff will work
hard to keep the tradition strong at the AAA level. Over 50
graduating players have gone on to continue their careers at
post secondary institutions, and 2 (Cesare Picinni '92,
Julie Lamparski '01) went overseas to play professionally.
Sussex was incorporated
in 1895 but was only officially established as a town on
April 30, 1904. In 1885 the Sussex Military Camp was
established on the eastern edge of the town. The facility
was closed following the Second World War and the town
purchased the land to expand the municipal boundaries. Today
the agricultural exhibition and some areas remain as open
land on the former site of Camp Sussex. Sussex (2006
population: 4,241) has a service district of 35,000. Sussex
is 70 km from Saint John, 80 from Moncton and 110 from
Fredericton. Potash was discovered in large quantities in
the area surrounding Sussex in the 1980’s, with the deposit
being the second largest in the world after an area in
Saskatchewan. Sussex Regional High School was opened in 1979
and in 1996 an addition was made to the school so it now has
a population of 950. It has a long and deep basketball
tradition since the late 1970’s and the teams have made many
trips to the provincial Finals. Sussex has had one player,
Angelia Crealock, go to France to play professionally and
many players have gone on to play at the CIS and ACAA level.

Hospital and near the Université de Montréal. The school
population is about 800 students. It's a male only high
school from grade 7 to 10 and is open to girls in grade 11.

high school to have competitive basketball back in the early
1960's. Brébeuf is now established as one of the premier
basketball program in the province, having won 20 provincial
championships in the bantam, midget and juvenile AAA
division since 1989. 6 former players have gone on to play
in the NCAA, most recently Pierre-Marie Altidor-Cespedes at
Marshall University, Maxime Paulhus-Gosselin at Davidson
University and Vali Lazarescu at William & Mary University.
Woodstock is located in
the heart of the Saint John River Valley and is New
Brunswick’s first incorporated town. Woodstock High School
was first opened in 1912 and was rebuilt in its present
location in 1976. Its present enrollment is around 750
students. The basketball program has a long history of
success in both men’s and women’s basketball. The programs
have captured several provincial championship banners during
the history of the Final 12 at the Aitken University Centre.
